Is there a meal that is more unifying and conducive to beautiful evenings at the chalet than a raclette ? It has…Read More
Leave the chalet to come back better : that could be my motto! There is nothing more pleasant for me – as for you surely – than to return to the heat of a chalet after a good day spent outdoors. And to make the transition between a more or less sporting activity and cocooning at the chalet, the ideal is to spend a few hours in a Nordic spa, as there are now in almost all regions of Quebec. The relaxation will only be better. I invite you to six regions where you can practice sport-spa duos …
Note : the baths and saunas of the spas are closed until the sanitary situation improves.
In Mont-Tremblant, in the Laurentians
● Downhill skiing at Tremblant resort
Welcome to the Mecca of Quebec downhill skiing! 102 slopes spread over four slopes, fourteen ski lifts, a magical view from the summit at 875 meters high… There is something for everyone, whether you are beginners or experts in the undergrowth!
● THE spa
On Montée Ryan, in Tremblant, the Scandinave Spa is one of the most beautiful and oldest Nordic spas in Quebec. Nestled in the forest, not far from the resort, it is perfect for an après-ski stopover! The contemporary design of the facilities blends in well with the surrounding nature and the offer of massages is as large as its thermo-therapeutic courses in the Finnish way.
● The advantages : ice climbing at the edge of the track; alpine hiking on skis with skins removed for the descent!
In Bromont, in the Eastern Townships
● The fat bike on 3 circuits
A pioneer in winter cycling, Bromont offers three beautiful sectors for its practice: in the Bromont massif park (with a 9 km loop on a dedicated trail), in Mont Oak (with 17 km of easy and intermediate level trails) and at the Bromont National Cycling Center (6 km of trails for beginners and intermediates, with winter bike rental on site).
● THE spa
The Balnéa Spa offers not far from the village of Bromont an “ all-inclusive experience in a refined atmosphere both in terms of sound, smell and visual ”. In addition to playing the sanctuaries of relaxation in a natural environment through the experience of hot and cold, the spa also offers a fine range of treatments and massages.
In Rawdon, in Lanaudière
● Snowshoeing with the Tournée des cantons de Rawdon
I discovered this magnificent outdoor playground in summer and on a mountain bike, but two of its five sectors are also covered by snowshoes in winter on 16 km of trails. You can even go easily from the Pontbriand sector to the Sunny Hill sector. Expect to walk up and down briskly in the first one, with a lookout at the top!
● THE spa
The Spa La Source Bains Nordiques welcomes you after this beautiful snowshoe trip without leaving nature. Its land literally hugs the side of a hill, with several “ floors ” of outdoor baths and relaxation areas open to the landscape. “ Taste ” the signature La Source massage, incorporating different approaches as well as the installation of hot basalt stones… Divine!
● Advantages : free access to the Tour des Cantons de Rawdon network, which you can also discover by cross-country skiing (10 trails) or fatbike (17 trails for all levels)!
● Skate with a view of the Saint-Charles river
If you rent a chalet in the Quebec City region, nothing could be easier than going for a getaway in the capital… On the menu : an ice skating ride at the Pointe-aux-Lièvres Winter Sports Site . Its 1.5 km ice rink trail is a little gem, especially because it is located a little higher than the pretty Saint-Charles River. You can rent skates on site.
● THE spa
The Strom Nordic Spa in Old Quebec is one of the most recent of the Quebec group Strom, whose “ trademark ” is to combine Nordic spa and urbanity. Great success here on Champlain Boulevard, near Bassin Brown, with outdoor baths, waterfalls and relaxation areas facing the St. Lawrence River. Try the Strom massage, with very Scandinavian traditional notes!
● Advantages : parking and access to the skating path is free; it is also lit every evening. Even more magical! At Strom, we give pride of place to families every Saturday morning from 7:30 am to 10 am…
Between La Malbaie and Baie-Saint-Paul, in Charlevoix
● Winter via ferrata on the heights of the river
On vacation in a chalet in Charlevoix, book a half-day with the family for a relatively sporty and truly original activity. The new “ Via ferrata La Charlevoix ” was developed in Pointe-au-Pic on the grounds of the large Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu hotel in partnership with Projet Vertical , a company expert in via ferrata. On foot and well attached at the waist, follow a cable that runs along the cliff for 500 meters! This kind of gentle “ assisted climbing ” gives shivers of happiness when discovering the St. Lawrence and its moving ice under a beautiful winter sky …
● THE spa
Le Germain Nordic Spa , in Baie-Saint-Paul, is an integral part of the hotel of the same name, but you don’t need to book a room to enjoy it. Located directly facing the bay … of Baie-Saint-Paul, it is bright! The thermal experience includes a visit to a curious snow fountain! Special mention, among the treatments and massages, in the package ” Total relaxation letting go ” …
● The + : before the Manoir Richelieu, walk the River Trail by following ” the ride at the speed of light ,” representation of the solar system (the Sun to Uranus) reduced to a scale of 1/1 500 000 000.
From New Year’s Eve to Lévis, in Chaudière-Appalaches
● Austrian toboggan at Domaine du Radar
With a helmet on, a wooden sledge between your legs and off you go on a downhill 2.3 km track on the La Familiale track, with your nose in the wind. The adrenaline helping, you will have only one desire, to go up quickly by bus to the top of Mount Marguerite to set off again on La Familiale, then test La Kamikaze, a track that provides even stronger sensations! The package is valid for 4 consecutive descents.
● THE spa
The Sentospa , installed in a residential area of Lévis, has Japan in its veins! I love this strong Japanese accent, inspired by the ancestral senso tradition, which invites you to wash your body and get rid of bad thoughts before entering the temple! This temple, which occupies the grounds of the Villa Saint-Louis, a beautiful Victorian house, is dedicated to your well-being. In addition to hot and cold outdoor baths, sauna and hammam, there is a “ salt cave ” with therapeutic properties for the respiratory tract. As for massages, I have a weakness for Amma of Japanese origin but based on the principles of Chinese medicine …
● The advantages : the originality of the Domaine du Radar site, a former military base that has become an outdoor base; the 5 km snowshoe trail on Mount Marguerite.
